Inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi, The Color Run started in 2012 with over 600,000 participants and ran in over 50 North American cities. In one year, they quickly doubled their race offering to expand to 130 cities held in five countries including North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. In February of 2013, they joined IMG Worldwide and announced an additional expansion to include dozens of countries in Europe and Asia.
